Awake notification

This article summarizes how the Awake notification work, and how to activate it.

Somnofy's advanced sleep algorithms can indicate whether a person is awake or asleep.
A large study carried out by sleep researchers in Bergen shows that Somnofy can show whether a person is asleep or awake in 95% of cases. This alert is well-suited for people who need to sniff during the night to avoid bedsores. One can then adapt the care to times when the person is awake, rather than waking her/him when the person is in a deep sleep.

The Awake notification gives you the opportunity to receive a notification if a user wakes up during the night. Under Alert Rules and Logs, select Add Alert Rule.

Select Wake. If you choose Default settings, the requirements for a notification to be sent:
  • Minimum time present (in the measurement area): 20 min
  • Time awake: 15 min

This can be changed by pressing Advanced.

It can also be selected whether an OK notification should be sent if the time asleep is greater than 15 minutes. In addition, you can adjust the Active time so that the notifications are only sent at night, for example.

During the night, it is completely normal for a person to have short awakenings. It does not have to mean that the person wants to wake up or get out of bed. We therefore recommend that you do not set too short time settings for alerts for being awake. One should also consider carefully which patients/residents need such a notification.
