Sound Level notification

This article describes how the Sound Level notification works and how to activate it

Somnofy has its own sensor that records sound in decibels (dbA). This allows it to pick up abnormally loud sounds. It does not record what is said.
In the hypnogram, you can see how much sound is registered with the individual user. In comparison, the noise from rush hour traffic produces approx. 80 dbA, the sound of a lively classroom 70 dbA, and whispers 30 dbA.

The sound level warning gives you the opportunity to receive a warning if a Somnofy detects a high sound level nearby. Under Notification rules and logs, select Add notification rule.

Select Sound Level.

If you choose Default settings, the requirements for a notification to be sent:

  • Minimum time present (in the measurement area): 10 min
  • Sound level greater than or equal to: 70 dbA
This can be changed if you press Advanced.

It can also be selected whether an OK notification should be sent if the user calms down. In addition, you can adjust the Active time so that the notifications are only sent at night, for example.

Every patient is different. We recommend waiting a couple of nights with data collection and noting nights and times with a lot of noise. You then have a good starting point for setting customized settings and avoiding an unnecessarily large number of notifications. Feel free to contact Somnofy Support if you would like assistance.
