No Presence notification

This article summarizes how the No Presence notification work, and how to activate it.

Somnofy uses radar signals to measure movements during the night. In the settings on the Somnofy device itself, you set the distance from the sensor to the edge of the bed. When the patient/resident leaves the bed, the radar no longer receives any signals, and then the sensor interprets it as if the person is no longer present.

This warning is well suited for those patients/residents who are concerned that they may fall in the bathroom after going to the toilet in the evening. You will then receive a notification if the person has not returned to their bed after xx number of minutes.

The absent notification gives you the opportunity to receive a notification if a user leaves the area Somnofy measures, such as the bed or sofa.

Under Notification rules and logs, select Add notification rule.

Select No presence. If you choose Default settings, the requirements for a notification to be sent:
  • Minimum time present (in the measurement area): 10 minutes
  • Time not present (in the measurement range): 5 minutes
This can be changed if you press Advanced.

It is also possible to choose whether an OK should be sent notification if the user returns.

In addition, you can adjust the Active time so that the notifications are only sent at night, for example.

Somnofy sends signals up to the cloud every 30 seconds and each epoch that is measured lasts 30 seconds. This means that it can take over a minute before you will receive a notification that a person has left their bed in some cases. We do not recommend setting the "time not present" to less than 5 minutes.
