RF trend deviation notification

This article summarizes how the Respiration Frequency (RF) Trend Deviation notification works, and how to activate it.

The breathing rate is the body's own fire alarm. Research shows that the respiratory rate (RF) rises up to several days before sepsis, cardiac arrest, infections and coal deterioration.

Somnofy automatically measures your breathing rate every night with an accuracy of over 99%. In the night report, the average breathing rate is compared with the average breathing rate for the resident/patient over the past 21 days. If the difference between the last day's RR and resident/patient is greater than 15%, this is marked with a red exclamation mark in the night report.

The RF trend deviation alert is produced in the same way.

Respiration Frequency (RF) trend deviation is an alert that is checked automatically once a day and the alert is based on the results in the night report.

Due to the fact that Somnofy measures the breathing rate with a very high accuracy, and research shows that an increase in the breathing rate often precedes illness or deterioration, we recommend turning on this alert at the zone level, with all users. Somnofy cannot say what a possible increase in the breathing rate is due to or give any diagnosis, but we can draw attention to residents/patients to whom the service should pay extra attention.

Under Notification rules and logs, select Add notification rule. Select RF trend deviation.

Fill in a description and select the scheduling time for the check. We recommend that the time is in the morning.

If this notification is activated, it will notify when one or more service recipients have had a night with an abnormally high breathing rate.

One good tip, if you use this notification, is to create good procedures and routines on how notification of RF trend deviation should be handled BEFORE you use the notifications. In order to get the best possible benefit, the management should also follow up that the notifications are handled according to procedures/routines afterward.
