Requirements for Somnofy and Guardian H10 to work

This article summarizes the requirements for Somnofy and Guardian H10 to work and what happens if these are not met.

The device needs certain things to work optimally. The most important are:
  • Power outlet available and protected
  • Good WiFi coverage/use of modem
  • Installation carried out according to mounting instructions

What happens if there is a power cut during the night?

If there is a power outage or the cord is pulled out during the night, the current sleep session will end. The data will be uploaded to the cloud and made available when the device gets power back. In the event of a power cut, no data will be collected, and it is important to investigate the cause of the power cut as soon as possible. This can be anything from problems in the infrastructure to a power cable that has been pinched out.

What happens if WiFi fails?

If the WiFi connection is unstable, complete sleep data will instead be available in the morning when the connection is good. Unstable WiFi, on the other hand, can cause delays in the status on the Dashboard. If you are unsure whether your WiFi is stable and strong enough, you can contact IT in your department or Vitalthings Support to get a brief analysis of the WiFi signal.

If the WiFi fails completely, the device can store data internally on the device until the WiFi connection is restored. The device can store up to 14 days of data internally before the memory is full. It is then important that the device does not lose power during this period. If this happens, the data will be lost.

What happens if the device is not installed according to the installation instructions?

There are many different ways to set up a device to collect data. The most important thing during installation is that Somnofy or Guardian H10 is not too far away from the person and is angled towards the chest without too many blockages between the device and the person. If the device is not installed correctly, it can affect the data quality, both for sleep data and presence. Read more about mounting instructions here.
